Stewarton Medical Practice was formed in 1965 when Dr Tom Duke (who had taken over from Dr Lloyd, who practiced on her own) and Dr Peter McGeechan (who had taken over from Dr Bowman, who also practiced on his own) formed a partnership.

They originally practised from 18 Avenue Street in addition to, some years later, a branch surgery in Dunlop.

With the expansion of the town, Dr Peter Howie and Dr Ken Hambly came on board, and the practice moved to the newly constructed Stewarton Health Centre in 1978 where we are still based. There have been a few more changes since then.

The Dunlop branch surgery closed in 2001.

We currently have 10 GPs – 2 male & 8 female; 2 Practice Nurses; 2 CTAC Nurses; 1 Healthcare Support Worker; 2 Management Staff, and 8 Reception/Administrative Staff.

With the aid of the Attached Staff based in the Health Centre we provide a full range of NHS Services.
